Make-up pre-trip meeting for Fieldcraft

For those of you who were not at the pre-trip meeting last night, you need to schedule a make-up pre-trip meeting with Jordan ASAP. He would like to meet before next Tuesday afternoon; please try to coordinate with him and the others as much as possible so that he doesn’t have to give the same information over four different times. The information takes about half an hour an is vital to participation in the trip. If you miss the pre-trip meeting, you will not be able to go on the trip next week.

Fieldcraft: Homework for the next three weeks

You have been charged with preparing a map for an ASLE conference. What would you want fellow environmentalists to know about Lubbock? (This can be a mix of good and bad things...)

Be creative, but the map can be no larger than 18"x24"

You will be graded on both your thoroughness and your creativity.

Other announcements:

On March 27th, we'll have a potluck at my house (2809 22nd St) to discuss the canoe trip that we take the next week. We can also show some (or all) of Winged Migration if there is enough interest. We'll start at 7 and finish up around 9 or 9:30. I can grill some bratwursts and veggie dogs and provide drinks if everyone else will take care of the rest.

Other dates to remember:
March 29th: first day trip
April 11-13: Prairie Chicken Festival

Fieldcraft: change of location for Thursday

Hi all--

Since I am passing out the cameras on Thursday, why don't we meet on Campus, here at my office? We can then walk over to Urbanovski Park for a lesson in how to use them.

Homework from last week: Identify the grasses that you found; start a list of things you'd put on a green map.
